Ned the Goldendoodle up for Adoption

Ned, the Goldendoodle pup who was injured in a “freak accident” by running into a retaining wall has found a forever family.

His run to the wall had “enough speed to cause a traumatic spinal injury,” according to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Due to the “long and delicate healing process” Ned’s previous family surrendered him to the MSPCA’s care at the beginning of June.

Angell Animal Medical Center neurologist Dr. Michele James determined that Ned could heal, but only with “strict rest” for up to 12 weeks.

Now, Ned will get to continue his healing in his new home.

We've got more details on Ned's new home! He's going to the North Shore and his new family says they were drawn to Ned because one of the family members suffered a similar accident, walking into a 1950s closeline and suffering a concussion that still has impacts today. https://t.co/6KEuMBbls2

According to a tweet from MSPCA-Angell, Ned is going to a home on the North Shore with his new owners.

The pup left the MSPCA-Angell’s Boston Adoption Center late yesterday Tuesday morning with owners Anne Marie and Jacob, said Rob Halpin, executive director of communications at the MSPCA.

Ned will be the only pet in his new house, so he’ll will have plenty of time to rest and recuperate from his spinal injury, Halpin added.

When asked what drew the couple to adopt Ned, Anne Marie told the MSPCA, “We were particularly drawn to Ned for a strange reason. After an hour of owning our house, my husband walked into a 1950s metal clothes line, an accident similar to Ned’s. It left my husband with a terrible concussion that still has lasting impacts today, well over a year and a half later. So we understand Ned’s need for rehabilitation, love, and support.”

The MSPCA thanked their followers on Twitter for sharing Ned’s story upon learning he was adopted into a new home.
