Separate fires destroyed mobile homes in Hernando and Floral City, and damaged an Inverness residence.

Citrus County Fire Rescue (CCFR) crews first responded at 1:37 p.m. Thursday, March 10, to an address off of East Treeline Drive in Hernando, where arriving firefighters found a mobile home and its addition fully engulfed, according to CCFR on Monday.

CCFR units from stations in Hernando, Kensington, Citrus Springs, Pine Ridge and the Inverness Highlands set up a defensive perimeter to contain the blaze, which was brought under control by 2:05 p.m.

CCFR deemed the building a total loss, and turned the scene over to the Florida State Fire Marshal for investigation, according to CCFR.

CCFR responded to a second house fire at 12:25 a.m. on Friday off of East Porter Street in Inverness, where smoke was coming from the eaves of a 2,500-square-foot, concrete-block home.

According to CCFR, three occupants evacuated the house, which had working smoke alarms, before before firefighters from stations in Hernando, Kensington, the Inverness Highlands and Floral City arrived to control the blaze by 12:57 a.m.

According to CCFR, the fire appeared to have started in the garage and spread to the attic. CCFR estimated damages to be around $150,000, and contacted the American Red Cross to assist the displaced residents.

CCFR went to a third house fire at 6:10 p.m. on Sunday off of East Shadywoods Court in Floral City, where firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from an 800-square-foot manufactured home.

According to CCFR, the family inside the house was able to evacuate before CCFR units from stations in Floral City, Hernando, the Inverness Highlands, Kensington and Citrus Springs controlled the blaze by 6:35 p.m. No injuries were reported, but the structure was deemed a total loss.

CCFR contacted the American Red Cross to aid the displaced family.

According to CCFR, the property owner said one of his children was caught playing with a lighter in the yard before he noticed the house on fire.
