The population in Guilford County – like the population in America as a whole – is getting older on average – and all of those older adults are going to need someplace to live.

Well, in the not to distance future, elderly Guilford County residents will have another option for where to spend their golden years.

The Carolina Pines Retirement Community is set to hold its groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, June 16 at 11:30 a.m. at Sedgefield Country Club, 3201 Forsyth Drive.

The living community itself will be at 2988 Alamance Road in Greensboro.

According to a press release sent out by the retirement community, “Resort Lifestyle Communities invites the business community in Greensboro and surrounding areas to celebrate the groundbreaking of its unique, all-inclusive independent senior living retirement community at … Sedgefield Country Club.”

Carolina Pines representatives, chamber members and “local dignitaries” are slated to speak at what’s being billed as a short business-to-business program – followed by lunch for all guests.

The announcement states that a short networking opportunity with industry professionals will also be available and that Carolina Pines teammates will answer questions about the new retirement community.

Carolina Pines representatives state that they pride themselves on providing a “resort lifestyle” at their independent retirement communities.

“Carolina Pines will offer an all-inclusive experience where one price covers all residents’ daily needs, including chef-prepared meals and a full calendar of life-enriching activities and entertainment options. In addition, on-site staff will provide assistance through the 24/7 emergency call system, as well as scheduled appointment transportation, concierge services, weekly housekeeping, and valet parking.”

According to project backers, the living community will have an in-house bank, pharmacy, general store and salon (though no saloon) – all of which will be open to the public.

Residents needing home care will have the choice to contract with their choice of providers.

In addition, unlike some retirement communities, all-inclusive monthly rent for studio, 1, 2, and 3-bedroom apartments are priced with no buy-in fee.

The $30 million, 180,000-square-foot Carolina Pines Retirement Community is the second RLC location in North Carolina and is expected to bring 35 new local jobs.
